THE PROJECT

DESCRIPTION

FNS-Cloud is a project that aims to address one of Europe’s critical challenges: the fragmentation of resources related to food and nutrition security (FNS). FNS is about access to nutritious, affordable and sufficient food for all, and this fragmentation hinders the achievement of that goal. The project aims to integrate a wide range of FNS data, including information on diet, health and consumer behavior, as well as data on sustainable agriculture and the bioeconomy, into a unified cloud solution. Through this integration, the project aims to enhance knowledge on food and nutrition security, reducing knowledge gaps that limit public health and agricultural policies. In addition, it is expected that the cloud solution will foster more informed and healthy choices by consumers, thereby helping to improve overall well-being and promote food sustainability.

OBJECTIVES

The main goal of the FNS-Cloud project is to overcome the fragmentation of FNS resources by integrating essential data for high-level pan-European FNS research. These data cover diet, health and consumer behavior, as well as sustainable agriculture and the bioeconomy. Currently, fragmented FNS resources lead to knowledge gaps that hinder the development of effective solutions in the areas of public health, agricultural policies and the food industry. The project also aims to reduce development and production costs in the food sector and increase sustainable production. Finally, the cloud solution is expected to promote more informed and healthy choices by consumers, helping to improve their overall well-being.

TECHNOLOGIES AND METHODOLOGIES

The FNS-Cloud project is based on an advanced cloud solution that integrates a wide range of existing FNS data. This solution promotes findability, interoperability and reusability of data, following FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable) principles. It also uses a range of tools and services to ensure that FNS data can be easily accessed and effectively exploited.

MISSION AND IMPACT

The FNS-Cloud project aims to promote sustainability and improve overall well-being through a series of initiatives. Through integrating FNS data and promoting collaboration among different stakeholders, the project seeks to reduce knowledge gaps that hinder public health and agricultural policies. In addition, the cloud solution is expected to foster more informed and healthy choices by consumers, helping to improve their overall well-being and promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
