THE PROJECT

DESCRIPTION

The TeAMa project takes the form of an innovative response to the challenges of sheep farms located in marginal areas, which are often characterized by limited economic opportunities and difficult climatic conditions. With an approach based on the adoption of cutting-edge digital technologies, the project aims to turn these critical issues into opportunities. Through the use of devices such as GPS collars, IoT sensors and satellite image analysis, TeAMa creates a technological ecosystem that can optimize livestock and pasture management while improving environmental sustainability. The project is not limited to technological aspects: a key element is the focus on biodiversity protection and promotion of animal welfare.

OBJECTIVES

The goals of the project are ambitious and multiple. First, TeAMa aims to demonstrate the multifunctional value of sheep farming, which is not only a source of income but also a means of keeping the ecosystem of rural areas in balance. Among other priorities, the desire to attract young generations to this sector, with a focus on innovation and sustainability, stands out. In addition, the project aims to enhance the resources derived from livestock farming, such as wool, transforming it into a high value-added product, and improve the competitiveness of farms through the strategic use of digital technologies.

TECHNOLOGIES AND METHODOLOGIES

The heart of the project lies in the application of scientific methodologies integrated with advanced technologies. The use of GPS collars makes it possible to monitor the behavior and location of animals in real time, while satellite imagery and GIS models provide in-depth data on the status of pastures and natural resource management. Artificial intelligence and machine learning tools are used to process large amounts of collected data to create predictive models to optimize grazing and feeding strategies. In addition, a special focus is placed on assessing the quality of livestock products through chemical and nutritional analysis.

MISSION AND IMPACT

The mission of the TeAMa project goes beyond improving farming conditions: its aim is to contribute to a cultural and technological transformation of the sector. By promoting the adoption of innovative technologies, the project aims to ensure the economic and social survival of marginal rural areas, revitalizing them and making them attractive to new generations. On the environmental front, TeAMa is committed to preserving biodiversity and reducing the ecological impact of livestock farming, while on the economic front it aims to increase the profitability of livestock farmers, ensuring that they play a central role in the production chain and sustainable developmen.
